P.R.Berton é diretor de teatro e autor dramático. Seus últimos créditos de direção incluem O Homem da Moda, ou o Senhor Fopling Fútil (G.Etherege, 2016) e ARTE (Y.Reza, 2018). Como ator, ele apareceu em O Homem da Moda, ou o Senhor Fopling Fútil (G.Etherege, 2016) e Amor da minha Vida (C.Churchill, 2018). É membro do Laboratório de Diretores Teatrais do Lincoln Center depois de participar de seu Workshop Internacional para Diretores Teatrais (2010), no qual dirigiu uma leitura dramática de L'Annonce faite à Marie, de P.Claudel. Participou também do workshop internacional para Praticantes de Teatro no Berliner Theatertreffen (2001) e da Semana do Apresentador no Festival Santiago a Mil (2013). Foi convidado para integrar o grupo de autores dramáticos do Chameleon stage em Denver (EUA). É bacharel em Direção Teatral pela UFRGS/Brasil (1999), mestre em Literatura Dramática pela PUCRS/Brasil (2007) e doutor em Teatro pela University of Colorado at Boulder/USA (2010) pelo qual foi o bolsista FULBRIGHT/CAPES para doutorado de 4 anos no exterior. Suas últimas publicações são, entre outras, ‘Henrik Ibsen - O Pai do Drama Moderno’ (Giostri/2020), ‘Afinal, Drama é o que mesmo? Definindo um Conceito e um Lugar para o Drama na Historiografia Teatral através das Ideias de Três Autores Dramáticos Japoneses Modernos: T. Shōyō, O. Kaoru e K. Kishida' (MISCELÂNEA/2022) 'O drama da terceira idade: aprendendo a contar histórias através da escrita dramática' (EXTENSÃO/2022) e 'Fernando Peixoto traduz Turgenev: noções fundamentais para uma estética marxista' (CENA/2022). Fez conferências no Centro de Estudos Ibsen da Universidade de Oslo (2022/2023) e na Südtirol Summer School em Feldthurns (2022). Exerceu o cargo de Secretário de Cultura da UFSC de maio de 2012 a abril de 2014, promovendo diversos congressos e festivais nas áreas de teatro, música, direitos humanos, entre outros. Coordena o NEEDRAM – Grupo de Pesquisa em Encenação Teatral e Escrita Dramática, cuja produção acadêmica e artística foi apresentada em 2021 no encontro trienal da Rede ITI/UNESCO de Ensino Superior em Artes Cênicas, da qual o NEEDRAM é membro. Em 2020, organizou o V SBEDR (Seminário Brasileiro de Escrita Dramática - 1sbedr.wixsite.com/1sbedr), trazendo professores, pesquisadores e autores dramáticos nacionais e internacionais para discutir o estado atual da arte da Escrita Dramática. Além disso, coordena e dirige a companhia de teatro Miletrê (miletre.wixsite.com/miletre), formada basicamente por alunos da UFSC. Ministrou oficinas de Escrita Dramática no MST (Movimento dos Sem-Terra), CIC (Centro Integrado de Cultura) e NETI/UFSC (Centro de Estudos da Terceira Idade) e coordena desde abril de 2023 o projeto de workshops de escrita dramática ‘Este é o meu Drama’, contemplado no edital pró-humanidades do CNPq. Desenvolve um projeto internacional em parceria com a George Mason University (EUA) com foco em leituras dramáticas de textos teatrais escritos por estudantes de escrita dramática de sete universidades do mundo. Er ist Assoziierter Professor III an der UFSC (Santa Catarina Bundesuniversität/Brasilien) und unterrichtet im Studiengang Darstellende Kunst (Theatertheorie, Theaterregie, Dramatische Literatur und Dramatisches Schreiben) und im Aufbaustudium Literaturwissenchaften (PPGLit).
